Institute of Chicana/o/x Psychology & Community Wellness
Decolonize.
Re-Indigenize.
Working toward the cultural, social, mental, emotional, spiritual liberation and healing of our people since 2012
Chicanx Psychology is “Gente Psychology”
We believe in building a community focused on wellness and strengths of the Chicana/o/x community through the lens of Chicana/o/x Psychology.
We believe that through conversations about community struggles along with healthy development of self-image and positive cultural identity, we may find the “answer” to many struggles held within our cultural legacy.

Join the Calmecac
In the Mexica (Aztec) world, a calmecac was a place of formation — a community space where people gathered not only to learn, but to become. It was where knowledge, reflection, discipline, and service to community were woven together through daily practice and shared purpose.
Our Calmecac carries forward that spirit of learning in community. Here, the focus is on growth that is relational, practical, and grounded in care — for ourselves, for each other, and for the communities we serve.
This is not a course.
By providing community plática workshops, professional training, online courses, support círculos, and group consultation, the Institute focuses on cultural revitalization and overall community mental health and wellness from a lens of liberation, social justice, and self-determination.
