Explorations in Chicana/o/x Identity: Chicana/o/x Psychology 101

This course will explore the different influences in Chicana/o/x identity development and its impact on individual and community wellness and well-being. This course is part of the Institute’s on-going series in Chicana/o/x Psychology. The role of Chicana/o/x ethnic identity is a foundational aspect and the most researched area in Chicana/o/x Psychology. Chicana/o/x identity is also a core aspect of the Chicana/o/x experience historically and contemporarily.

This is a 6 week on-line course series in Chicana/o/x Psychology. This course is open to anyone with an interest in this content. Each session will be 1.5 hours and evaluation sent to participants after each session. The classes will be recorded and the recorded sessions will be available for one week after the live date. So, participants may still receive credit if they view and respond to the evaluation of each session.

Week 2 - Chicana/o/x Identity Development Models

Week 3 - Acculturation, Generational Statues, Migration/Immigration

Week 4 - Impact of Chicana/o/x Identity in schools

Week 5 - Chicana/o/x LGBTQ identities

Week 6 - Impact of Social & Media Images
